Your blood test came back positive for chronic hepatitis B, Mr Kowalczyk. I'd like to go through what that means and what happens next.

For most adults, chronic hepatitis B isn't curable, but it's very manageable with regular monitoring; only some people ever need daily antiviral medication, not everyone.

You can keep working normally in almost every job, since hepatitis B doesn't spread through casual contact; only roles involving blood exposure, like surgery, may need extra precautions.

Yes, your wife and children should be tested and vaccinated if needed, since the virus spreads through blood or unprotected sex, not through sharing meals or hugging.
