Thanks for coming in today. Could you tell me exactly what's gone wrong with your new mobile phone, and when you noticed it?

Have you already gone back to the store where you bought it, and did they offer any repair, replacement or refund?

If the store won't give you a refund or repair, the first step is lodging a complaint with NSW Fair Trading, explaining what happened.

Should Fair Trading's process not resolve things, you're able to apply to NCAT, which is the tribunal that handles consumer disputes like this one.

There's a filing fee for that application, though it can sometimes be reduced if you're facing financial hardship - the registry can explain the options.
