Divorce Application Consultation
Family Law Paralegal (speaking English) and Client (speaking Dutch) talk through “Divorce Application Consultation”. You interpret both ways — English into Dutch, and Dutch into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Thanks for coming in today. Before we start, can you confirm you and your husband have been separated for at least twelve months?
Ja, we wonen al veertien maanden apart, sinds hij vorig jaar naar Brisbane is verhuisd.
Good, that meets the requirement. We'll file your application with the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, since you meet the twelve-month separation rule.
Oké, dat is goed om te horen. Maar wat gebeurt er met de voogdij over onze dochter en met ons huis in Toowoomba?
Parenting and property are handled separately from the divorce order itself. If you can't agree, you may need a parenting plan or a consent order.
Begrijpelijk. Welke documenten moet ik meebrengen om de scheiding officieel aan te vragen?
You'll need your marriage certificate, proof of separation, and photo identification. The application itself is lodged online through the court's official portal.
Ons trouwcertificaat is in het Nederlands opgesteld, in Amsterdam. Moet dat ook vertaald worden?
Yes, it must be translated by a NAATI-certified translator before we can submit it with your application, since courts won't accept foreign-language documents.
Hoeveel kost zo'n vertaling ongeveer, en hoelang duurt het hele scheidingsproces daarna?
Translation costs vary, but the divorce itself is finalised one month and one day after the court hearing, provided no issues are raised.
Dat is duidelijk, dank u wel. Ik laat de documenten deze week vertalen en vul dan het formulier in.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- federal circuitGebruik 'Federal Circuit Court' als naam, eventueel toegelicht als 'de federale rechtbank van eerste aanleg'.
- family courtZeg 'familierechtbank' als vertaling.
- naatiZeg gewoon 'NAATI' — dit blijft onvertaald als eigennaam.

Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Dutch dialogues · All languages
