Full transcript
Good afternoon, I'm Dr Sharma from Westmead Hospital's emergency department. Can you tell me exactly what happened before your father fell down the stairs this morning?
Did he lose consciousness at any point, or vomit after the fall? This information helps us assess the severity of his head injury properly.
Is your father currently taking any blood-thinning medication, such as warfarin or aspirin? This is important, because it increases the risk of serious bleeding.
We need to do a CT scan of his head to check for internal bleeding. The wait time is about thirty minutes today.
If the scan comes back clear, we'll keep him for four hours' observation here. Otherwise, he may need to stay overnight for further monitoring.
Once home, watch closely for worsening headache, repeated vomiting, or confusion. If any of these occur, call triple zero immediately, don't wait at all.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
