Good afternoon, Mrs Trajkovski. Your hip replacement surgery is scheduled at Barwon Health next Thursday morning, so I'd like to go through some important pre-operative instructions with you today.

You must not eat any food after midnight the night before surgery, but you may drink small sips of water until six o'clock.

You'll need to stop taking your blood thinner five days before the operation, unless your cardiologist specifically tells you otherwise.
