Preparing for Cataract Surgery
Ophthalmology Nurse (speaking English) and 病人 (speaking Malay) talk through “Preparing for Cataract Surgery”. You interpret both ways — English into Malay, and Malay into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Full transcript
Mr Rahman, thanks for coming in early today — your cataract surgery at Prince of Wales Hospital is booked for next Thursday morning at nine thirty.
Baiklah, tapi saya risau sikit... adakah saya perlu dibius sepenuhnya, atau saya akan sedar semasa pembedahan?
We'll use local anaesthetic eye drops rather than a general anaesthetic, so you'll remain awake throughout but shouldn't feel any pain at all.
Oh begitu, tak sangka pula. Selepas pembedahan ni, bolehkah saya terus memandu balik ke rumah sendiri?
You won't be able to drive for twenty-four hours afterwards, so please arrange for a family member or friend to collect you from the clinic.
Baik, anak saya akan datang ambil saya. Tapi berapa kerap saya perlu titik ubat mata selepas ini?
You'll need to use the antibiotic drops four times a day for two weeks, even if your eye feels completely fine by then.
Saya ada kencing manis, doktor. Adakah itu akan menjejaskan proses penyembuhan mata saya selepas pembedahan?
That's fine, but if your blood sugar isn't well controlled beforehand, healing could take much longer and raise the infection risk.
Baiklah, saya akan jaga gula darah dengan lebih teliti. Habis tu, berapa pula kosnya? Adakah Medicare tanggung semuanya?
Medicare covers the standard cataract surgery here, though if you choose a private hospital instead, your health fund may cover the extra costs.
Terima kasih banyak-banyak, jururawat. Sekarang saya lebih faham dan tak risau sangat untuk hari Khamis nanti.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
- medicareKekalkan sebagai 'Medicare' tanpa terjemahan kerana ia nama khas skim kerajaan.

Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All Malay dialogues · All languages
