Mrs Aziz, before your father goes home from Sutherland Hospital, I want to talk with you about arranging palliative care support for him.
Oh... ok. Tapi kenapa perlu palliative care ni? Dia teruk sangat ke sampai perlukan macam tu?
It's not only for end-of-life care — it also helps manage his pain and other symptoms so he can stay more comfortable at home.
Ooo begitu rupanya. Jadi bukan sekadar untuk waktu nak mati je ya. Macam mana proses rujukan tu, berapa lama pula?
We'll send the referral today, and the community palliative care team will usually get in touch within a few days to arrange a visit.
Baiklah, saya faham. Tapi kalau macam tu, ada ke sebarang kos yang kena bayar untuk rawatan ni?
Medicare covers most of the nursing and medical support he'll receive, though some items like certain medications or equipment hire may cost extra.

The nurse can usually visit about twice a week at first, and they'll help arrange equipment like a hospital bed if it's needed.

If something urgent happens overnight, you can call the palliative care line — it's staffed but doesn't replace calling triple zero if it's serious.
