Thanks for coming in today, Mr Karimi. Your blood test confirmed chronic Hepatitis B, so we need to talk about monitoring and how to protect your family.

That's common—Hepatitis B often has no symptoms for years. Without regular check-ups, though, it can slowly damage your liver.

Yes, please bring your wife and children to Nepean Hospital for testing this Thursday. If they're not infected, we can vaccinate them.

Usually every six months, unless your specialist recommends more frequent tests. We'll also check your liver with an ultrasound once a year.

Avoid alcohol completely, and eat a balanced diet. This condition shouldn't affect your job, but let us know if you feel unusually tired.

Medicare covers these tests and specialist visits. Your GP will refer you to a liver clinic for ongoing care and any antiviral treatment if needed.
