Mandarin education vocabulary

These notes come from this language’s vocabulary list. Terms belong to this topic’s vocabulary category or occur in the dialogues above. Renderings are study aids.

Medical certificate

说“病假证明”或“医生证明”。

有人说成“医疗证书”，听起来像资格证书，没有传达“请假用的病假条”这个功能。

TAFE

保留英文名称TAFE，必要时补充“职业技术学院”。

把TAFE直接译成“大学”，会丢失其职业教育性质这一关键区别，是常见丢分点。

Public school

说“公立学校”。

有考生说成“国立学校”或“公共学校”，不是标准用语，可能造成理解偏差。

VET

建议译为“职业教育与培训”，或保留缩写“VET”，必要时说明“不是兽医的意思”。

最常见且严重的错误是把“vet”直接译成“兽医”，因为这是该词最常见含义，但在教育语境中完全错误，会导致整段信息传递失败。

NAPLAN

保留英文说“NAPLAN”，可加解释“全国性读写算能力测评”。

考生常译为“全国统考”或与高考类的选拔性考试混淆，但NAPLAN只是能力评估测试，不涉及升学选拔，翻译时若暗示“选拔”会造成信息失真。

Prep

说“学前预备班”或“幼儿园预备班”,也可用“Prep班”保留英文。

常被直接译成“幼儿园”(kindergarten),但Prep属于小学的第一年,与国内“幼儿园”概念不同。

HSC

保留英文说“HSC”，可加解释“新州高中毕业证书考试”。

考生常笼统译为“高考”，容易让听者误以为是全国统一高考，而HSC是NSW州特有的高中毕业考试制度，与中国高考体系不同。

Kindergarten

根据上下文译为“幼儿园”或“（小学）学前班”，如不确定具体州份，可笼统说“学前教育阶段”。

考生常一律译成“幼儿园”，但在NSW等州kindergarten其实是正式入读小学的第一年，与中国概念中的“幼儿园”不同，可能造成信息偏差。

Scholarship

说“奖学金”即可,这是标准对应词。

有考生译成“助学贷款”(loan),但奖学金通常无需偿还,与贷款性质完全不同。

Year 12

说“12年级”,可视需要补充“相当于高三”。

有人直接译成“高三”而未加说明,但澳大利亚学制与中国不同,直接对应可能造成误解,应保留“12年级”原词。
