Severe Head Injury After Fall
Neurologist (speaking English) and Patient's Wife (speaking German) talk through “Severe Head Injury After Fall”. You interpret both ways — English into German, and German into English — one segment at a time, exactly as in the CCL test.

Full transcript
Mrs Fischer, thank you for coming in. Klaus sustained a serious head injury after falling from the ladder yesterday afternoon, and we've just finished his CT scan here at Flinders Medical Centre.
The scan shows swelling on the right side of his brain, and his Glasgow Coma Score is currently eight out of fifteen, which indicates a severe injury.
We won't operate unless the swelling increases or his pressure readings worsen over the next 24 hours; for now we'll monitor him closely in ICU.
It varies widely; some patients wake within days, others take weeks. If he needs ongoing rehabilitation afterwards, we can refer him for NDIS-funded brain injury support.
You're welcome to stay tonight in the family room beside ICU, though only one visitor is permitted at his bedside at a time overnight.
The consultant will review his scans again tomorrow morning at eight o'clock, and I'll update you personally straight after that ward round.
Terms in this dialogue that cost marks
CCL is marked on information transferred. These Australian terms have no direct word in most test languages — get one wrong and the segment's information is gone.
Practise it
Reading a transcript is not interpreting. The free daily dialogue on this site plays each segment at native speed, records you, and marks the information you transferred against the same categories examiners use — omissions, distortions, insertions — so you know where the marks went.

How the test works
Practice dialogue written to the CCL specification (two speakers, segments of 35 words or fewer, about 300 words). It is a practice text, not a NAATI test paper, and the AI score is this site's estimate, not a NAATI result. All German dialogues · All languages
