Thanks for meeting me during your lunch break, Mr. Novak. I wanted to explain what joining the SDA union actually involves before you decide anything.

The membership fee is eight dollars fifty a week, which covers legal advice, wage checks, and representation if a dispute arises with Woolworths management.
To zní rozumně, ale je členství povinné, nebo se mohu sám rozhodnout, že do odborů nevstoupím?
Joining isn't compulsory, but if you don't, the union can't represent you personally in disagreements with management about pay or shifts.

You could approach the Fair Work Commission yourself, but that process usually takes longer, and you'd need to argue your case without any support.
