Mr. Dobre, thank you for coming in today for your pre-admission assessment before your knee replacement surgery at John Hunter Hospital next Thursday.
Before we start, could you tell me if you have any allergies to medications, latex, or anaesthesia, and whether you're currently taking blood thinners?
You must not eat or drink anything for six hours before surgery, and please make sure you arrive at 6:30 am sharp on Thursday morning.
That's fine, but you won't be able to drive yourself home afterwards because of the anaesthetic, so please arrange for someone to collect you.
After surgery, you'll stay in hospital for about two nights, and you won't be discharged until you can walk safely with physiotherapy support.
We'll manage your pain with regular medication, and before you leave today, I'll need you to sign the surgical consent form together.
