Good afternoon, Mr. Kovačević. I'm Dr. Ellis, the plastic surgeon at Barwon Health in Geelong. Could you tell me how your nose was injured, and when it happened?

I'd like to order a CT scan to check the bone structure carefully. If it's blocking your airway, we may recommend functional rhinoplasty surgery.

The wait for a surgical slot is currently about six weeks, and the operation itself usually takes around two hours under general anaesthetic.

Most patients need about one week off work, with swelling and bruising settling over two to three weeks. Pain is usually mild.

Medicare covers the functional repair since it's medically necessary, but it won't cover any purely cosmetic reshaping unless you choose to pay privately.
