Vietnamese consumer affairs vocabulary

These notes come from this language’s vocabulary list. Terms belong to this topic’s vocabulary category or occur in the dialogues above. Renderings are study aids.

Excess

Cooling-off period

Details to keep in your interpretation

These examples come from this topic’s practice answers. Compare the source, the detail to retain and the model interpretation.

Numbers and amounts: keep the quote distinct from the final charge

Overcharge at a Car Repair Shop · segment 2

Do not confuse the $350 quote with the $610 final charge.

Compare the model interpretation

Yes, last week I took my car to a repair shop in Bankstown. They quoted me three hundred and fifty dollars, but when I picked up the car, they charged me six hundred and ten dollars, which was a lot more.

Online Shopping Purchase Dispute

Online Shopping Purchase Dispute · segment 1

Thanks for calling NSW Fair Trading, Mr Pham. Can you tell me exactly what happened with your recent online order?

Keep the request for details as a question.

Compare the model interpretation

Refund Dispute Over a Faulty Phone

Refund Dispute Over a Faulty Phone · segment 1

Tell me exactly what happened when you went back to the store to ask for a refund on the phone.

Keep the request for an exact account of what happened, rather than just the reason for seeking a refund.

Compare the model interpretation
